Privacy policy

mattpalmer.net is the personal site of Matt Palmer. This page explains what personal data the site collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written plainly rather than legally; if anything is unclear, please get in touch.

Who is responsible

Matt Palmer is the data controller for this site. You can reach me at matt@mattpalmer.net with any privacy question or request.

What the site collects

Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use it — which pages are read, rough geographic region, and device and browser type. This relies on cookies and is loaded only on public pages (never in the admin area). The data is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally.

The contact form

If you use the contact form, I collect the name, email address, subject and message you provide so I can read and reply to your enquiry. Alongside that I record technical metadata — your IP address and browser user-agent — solely to prevent spam and abuse (rate-limiting and bot protection). Submissions are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-respecting bot check that does not track you across sites.

Cookies

The only cookies of note are those set by Google Analytics for the purpose described above. The site sets no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can block cookies in your browser settings; the site will continue to work.

Who processes the data

The site relies on a small number of service providers, each acting as a processor:

  • Railway — hosting for the site itself.
  • Supabase — the database that stores contact-form submissions.
  • Resend — delivers contact-form submissions to my inbox by email.
  • Google Analytics — the analytics described above.
  • Cloudflare — Turnstile bot protection on the contact form.

How long it is kept

Contact-form messages are retained for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any follow-up, then deleted. Analytics data is retained according to Google's standard retention settings. I do not sell personal data, and I do not share it except with the processors listed above.

Your rights

You can ask me to confirm what data I hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Email matt@mattpalmer.net and I'll action reasonable requests promptly.

Changes

If this policy changes I'll update the date below. Last updated: June 2026.
