Hello. As long as you’re not just trying to sell me something, I’d love to hear from you and you’re welcome to get in touch. If you’d like to email me securely, let me know and I’ll send you my PGP public key.
Please don’t be offended if we’ve not met and I don’t accept your linkedin invite to connect – I don’t want to be the one endorsing a social engineering attempt!
A quick note for all the lovely security salespeople out there: if you want to sell me shiny boxes with flashy lights to put in datacentres that will magically solve intractable security problems (or ask me to promote one), feel free to skip the ‘getting in touch’ bit and just delete my records from your lead list instead. Update: you really do know if this is you, so please stop sending me emails explaining why this doesn’t apply because your widget is different, you’ve got a sales target, or you happen to be in town next tuesday. Or calling me at work. Or IMing because I’ve not replied to your email. Or apologising for stalking me on social media because you really think I want to to see your widget even though I’ve ignored your last 87 messages. Yes, really… if you read this far, it probably does mean you 🙂 I know you have a job to do too, but the spam method just isn’t going to work. And if you say a colleague referred you, know that I do check. Thanks!
